  • On-Farm Conversations About Soil Health and Water Quality 7402 Mud Street West, Grassie

    Hosted by: Greenbelt Foundation Soil Health Program

    Join the Greenbelt Foundation’s Soil Health Program this summer for On-Farm Conversations About Soil Health and Water Quality, a series of regional events taking place across the Greater Golden Horseshoe.

    These events bring together farmers, agronomists, and agricultural partners to explore the connections between soil health, water quality, and productive farming systems. Through presentations, panel discussions, and a facilitated workshop, participants will have the opportunity to share experiences, discuss challenges, and explore practical solutions that support farm resilience.

    KSE and CEU credits will be available.

    Welcome remarks and and a presentation that explores how soil health is measured, what influences results across different soil types, and how management practices shape outcomes.

    Presentation Session & Panel Discussion
    Kokulan Vivekananthan (OSCIA), Adam Hayes (Soil Resource Group)
    This session will explore how to interpret soil health results and apply them to farm management decisions, the relationship between soil health and water quality outcomes, and how BMPs support environmental and productivity goals. These presentations will be followed by a facilitated Q&A panel discussion with presenters.

    Interactive Workshop: BMPs in Practice
    Cameron Ogilvie
    Join a small-group discussion, facilitated by Cameron Ogilvie, on barriers to adopting BMPs, practical implementation strategies, and experiences improving soil health. Following a short break with complimentary refreshments and information tables around the room, groups will share key insights and solutions, followed by closing remarks.

  • OYSCA/OJA Double Feature Beef Show

    Hosted by: Ontario Young Canadian Simmental Association (OYSCA) and Ontario Junior Angus Association (OJA)

    Join us at the West Niagara Fairgrounds for an action-packed weekend celebrating Ontario's youth beef industry!

    The Ontario Youth Simmental Club Association (OYSCA) and the Ontario Junior Angus Association (OJAA) are teaming up to host the Double Feature Beef Show, bringing together junior exhibitors from across the province for three days of competition, education, and camaraderie.

    Throughout the weekend, competitors will participate in:

     Showmanship
     Judging Competitions & Quiz Bowl
     Team Grooming
     Photography
     Art & Graphic Design
     Scrapbook Competition

    Whether you're involved in the beef industry, support youth in agriculture, or are looking for a fun way to experience livestock showing, spectators are welcome to come cheer on the next generation of cattle producers.

    Admission for spectators is welcome.

    For exhibitors, registration opens Friday morning, with move-in beginning Thursday afternoon. Entry information, rules, schedules, and class lists are available through the Showman app.

    Come support Ontario's young cattle exhibitors and enjoy a fantastic weekend showcasing leadership, agriculture, and outstanding beef cattle!
